Music is a powerful, unique form of communication that can change the way people think, feel and act. It has the power to elevate, motivate and liberate us as well as uniting us to sing as one. It gives us the opportunity to express our emotions through sound and movement and inspires creativity whilst building confidence.

Giving children a musical education has a positive impact on their social and cognitive development which are long lasting, resulting in better hearing, better motor skills, improved memory, better verbal and literacy skills. It gives the child an opportunity to explore and get lost in the moment.

At Revoe Learning Academy, our vision is to provide all our children with a rich musical curriculum which builds on their knowledge, skills and understanding of music each year showing progression throughout their time at RLA. Children are given the opportunity to explore and gain a good awareness of a wide variety of music from musical traditions and genres, gaining skills to listen, appraise, compose and perform musical pieces. Children will be able to express their feelings and thoughts in a variety of ways, for example through dance.

Over the years, children will gain the ability to give verbal explanations, use musical vocabulary and terminology effectively, accurately and appropriately for the appropriate year group. Our music lessons will provide children with the opportunity to learn musical instruments, tuned and un-tuned and perform to other children and wider audiences.
