At Revoe Learning Academy, our aim is for children to develop into confident, skilled and resilient mathematicians who understand that mathematics is a fundamental part of everyday life. Our Maths curriculum has been developed to ensure that every child can achieve excellence in mathematics linking key concepts to every day scenarios.
Our Maths curriculum will embed a deeper understanding of mathematics by utilising a concrete, pictorial, abstract approach so that pupils develop secure conceptual understanding rather than just learning to repeat routines. At Revoe Learning Academy, we have high expectations and encourage a positive growth mind-set toward mathematics. Teachers create learning experiences which develop children’s resilience in the face of a challenge and carefully scaffold learning with small step so that everyone can progress and achieve.
At Revoe Learning Academy, we follow the National Curriculum and use White Rose Schemes of Work as a guide to support teachers with their planning and assessment. Our calculation policy ensures a consistent approach to teaching number and the four operations over time. Teachers ensure there are planned opportunities for children to revisit their learning irrespective of the week’s learning intentions. This allows for a greater depth of understanding and supports our commitment of a mastery approach.
