Keeping Safe

Ensuring that all our children know how to stay safe is very important to us. One of our Golden Rules, 'Be Safe,' reflects our commitment to the safety of every member of the Revoe community. We focus on protecting our children both in their daily lives and online, whether they are at school or at home.

Mrs. Rose is our Designated Safeguarding Lead. While all staff members share responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, Mrs. Rose ensures that everyone is properly trained to understand and fulfil their roles. She is also dedicated to keeping all children safe and making sure that records and monitoring are accurate and secure.

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

The PSHE Scarf curriculum teaches children essential safety skills through a range of topics such as Drugs, Sex and Relationships, Stranger Danger and Online Safety. Through interactive lessons and real-life scenarios, children are empowered to recognise and respond to potential risks. They are encouraged to think critically, develop a strong understanding of boundaries, recognise the importance of asking for help, and develop strategies for staying safe in various situations, both online and offline. This fosters confidence and resilience, equipping children with the tools they need to navigate the world safely. We also discuss a wide range of issues around safety and wellbeing on a regular basis in assemblies and through talks from specific organisations.

Computing - Online Safety

We take online safety very seriously at RLA. To ensure children are equipped with essential skills for navigating the digital world, we build on work covered in PSHE to integrate online safety into the Computing curriculum.

Our holistic approach empowers children to understand the importance of safe online practices, recognise potential dangers, and develop critical thinking skills when interacting with technology. A key component of this, is teaching pupils how to report concerns, enabling them to seek help when they encounter issues online.

By embedding online safety into lessons on coding, digital literacy, and internet ethics, as well as delivering discrete lessons, we create a comprehensive learning environment that not only teaches technical skills but fosters responsible digital citizenship. Through engaging activities and collaborative projects, children gain the confidence to explore online spaces while being mindful of their privacy and the impact of their online behaviour.

RSE

The primary RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) curriculum teaches children how to keep safe by promoting understanding of healthy relationships, consent, and personal boundaries. Through age-appropriate lessons, students learn about the importance of respect in relationships, how to communicate their feelings, and ways to recognise and respond to unsafe situations.  By fostering open discussions and providing practical scenarios, RSE empowers children with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and seek help when needed.
