At Revoe Learning Academy, we believe that learning a foreign language is a crucial part of being a thriving member of a multi-cultural society. We aim to nurture children’s curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. Pupils develop communication and literacy skills that lay the foundation for future language learning. They will develop linguistic competence, extend their knowledge of how language works and explore differences and similarities between the foreign language (Spanish) and English.
At Revoe Learning Academy, our children are taught to:
- Listen attentively to spoken language and showing understanding by responding.
- Explore the pattern and sounds of the language through songs and rhymes and link to spelling, sound and meaning of words.
- Engage in conversations by expressing opinions and responding to questions.
- Speak in sentences using basic language structures and familiar vocabulary.
- Develop accurate use of pronunciation and intonation when reading aloud.
- Use a dictionary/thesaurus to broaden vocabulary.
- Orally describe people, places, objects and everyday life as well as write about them in sentences.
- Understand the similarities and differences between cultures and celebrate them.
